Week end of passion, great show, emotions, duels and numberless sudden changes for the fifth seasonal round of Polini Italian Cup, on Sunday the 5th of October, on the circuit of Ottobiano, a real temple of motors, which stood out for the renewed installation on half track and the new asphalt pavement, provided with a perfect grip for safe driving. Great flow of riders and great defies on the track, thanks to the competitiveness that often gave a nasty surprise to the most expert riders. So, no one is excluded, when pushing hard is needed and the general agonistic level is so heterogeneous. The match is still open in almost classes, the final verdict is closer and closer and will be set on Sunday, October the 19th on the racetrack of Modena.
SCOOTER 70 EVOLUTION OPEN: CASTELLINI AND MORELLI D.O.C.G.
In Open Race, immediately a big battle; Castellini attacks Tiraferri and few laps later Castellini gets the control of the race before Corsi and Morelli, who takes the third place thanks to a decided overtaking over Tiraferri. Morelli makes a show by going to second position; the leading quartet is close, but on the seventh lap Corsi exceeds and slides, so that he starts again on fourth position. In Race 2, Corsi tries to recover by starting the first. Tiraferri attacks him and Castellini follows his two team mates on third position. The hellish pace makes Tiraferri slide, even though he manages to recover till the fourth final position. In the front group, Morelli attacks, gains the second position and keeps it till the finish line before Castellini (who takes home an absolute victory). Race 2 is won by the spectacular Corsi.
SCOOTER 70 EVOLUTION ONE-BRAND: MORONI REPLIES
In One-Brand, Polini is on competition together with Open class, uphill race for Moroni, who on the second lap slides and by starting again from the last position, gives birth to a great recovery. Alessio Tarabella and Filippo Tognarelli, who are always on the top of Polini One-Brand, try to have an escape from the rear group, but on the final Moroni makes a big come back and wins the class and the sixth absolute position. Tarabella is second and distances Tognarelli. In Race 2 the three great protagonists of “One-Brand” are still on the top. This time, Alessandro Fabbri plays gooseberry, since he manages to have an excellent start and keeps the leading pace and will end the race on third position. Moroni takes a double win, and Tarabella gets the second absolute place.
SCOOTER 70 EVOLUTION FANS: BURNING DUELS
The most crowded and hard-fought class. In Race 1, Roberto Pagliaccia sprints and leads the front group. Soon come Ivan Calce and Marco Girardi’s assaults. Girardi gets the leadership, tailgated by two chasers. On the final, Pagliaccia gets to second position and Calce makes a mistake, because of which is bound to withdrawal and undoes his excellent race. Luca Koren takes advantage from that and goes to third position, behind Pagliaccia and the winner Girardi. In Race 2, Pagliaccia is highly concentrated and sprints better, followed by the winner Girardi. Two groups take shape: the first is composed of Pagliaccia and Girardi fighting for victory, the second is composed of Modena and Koren doing battle for the third place of podium. At finish line, Girardi is first, before Pagliaccia and the lonely Calce in third position.
SCOOTER 100 BIG EVOLUTION OPEN:
Stefano Scribano starts from leading position in Race 1, followed by Morelli (who got the pole) and overtakes him a bit later. Scribano slides on the fifth lap and moves back to seventh position. The Sicilian rider angrily recovers to fifth place, even though on the ninth lap a bump with Righetti makes both of them fall to the ground at the way in the start straight line. Morelli puts to sea and will get the first place, Vitali the second and Bartolini, who just came back to races, the third. Scribano draws the line at the damages by ending on seventh position. On Race 2 start, Sribano and Morelli are still the fastest, while Vitali is bound to withdrawal and defeats the excellent performance of Race 1. Scribano attacks, takes control and flies to win before Morelli, who takes the absolute victory thanks to second place, while Bartolini is back on podium. Antonio Righetti is fourth and takes a revenge after the unlucky Race 1.
TROPHY VESPA 135cc. CLASSIC: LUMINA IS THE FASTEST VESPA
In Race 1 Nazzareno Lumina starts from pole position at the end of a sequence of free tests, where he reaches the right drive feeling with the renewed Vespa 135 of Polini Team. Behind him, the reigning champion, Matteo Piacentini chases and will not get the chance to attack Lumina while he hopes to gain precious points in the classification. At the back of the two leading riders, Bigarella and Mammi shine. In Race 2, Lumina sprints anew and gets the leadership, followed by Piacentini who tries some times to assault the official Polini rider, but unsuccessfully. Mammi brings to an end an attack race, and gains on sprint the third position over Bigarella.
PIT BIKE XP 125 4T: CAMORCIA WINS AND REDUCES THE GAP IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP
Nicolò Castellini starts from pole position, on the start he makes a mistake and by releasing the clutch lever he risks capsizing, while wasting much time over the group that runs away. Gabriele Camorcia takes profit and gains precious meters, flies to the head of race, chased by Lorenzo Pirré and Gianluca Cuttitta who will fight till the end behind the uncatchable Camorcia. The defy is even more uncertain in Race 2, since Camorcia is leading again, while Cuttitta tries to assault him right away. Pirré is third, while Castellini starts and is fourth, and sticks to the leading group of three. Big fight between Camorcia and Pirré for supremacy. On the fifth lap, a contact between Castellini and Fabbri prevents Castellini from fighting for the final win. In the final phases, Camorcia drives really intent, to avoid any possible mistakes till the chequered flag, where he precedes Cuttitta, Pirré and Castellini who’s coming back.
