THE TREASURE ISLAND

Great enthusiasm for the first edition of the Polini Sicilian Cup that took place on May 8th on the truck in Triscina. It is destined to become a real “classic race” for the scooter in the splendid Trimacria place.

The Polini Sicilian Cup, at its first edition on the Triscina truck, was a live mark of the passion for the scooter race.

70 OPEN EVOLUTION SCOOTER TROPHY

In the history: Matteo Tiraferri, the 2010 Open 70 Evolution Trophy winner, and first in the two races of the 2011 Polini Italian Cup, has now to be even more careful to his team-mate Filippo Corsi. In fact Filippo Corsi dominated the first edition of the Polini Sicilian Cup writing his name on the history of this event. During Race 1 he registered the best lap time with 55.742.

His duel with Tiraferri was full of overtaking till winning the final sprint. In Race 2 Tiraferri looked for the revenge. In three runs the race was close; Tiraferri attempted to delay entering in one curve but he slipped destroying his scooter and opening the door to Corsi toward the success.

But the surprise of the day was Francesco Seminiero; he went on the third step of the podium. The Sicilian rider, who is taking part to all the events of the Polini Italian Cup, confirmed his technical growth, being protagonist of a hard match with Bartolini. Other protagonist of the race were Julien Vitali and Fabio di Mauro. Sixth and fourth. Carlo Guerrieri was seventh and sixth, penalized in Race 1 for an early start.

70 EVOLUTION SCOOTER AMATORI

This class saw shining the Sicilian riders. Emanuele Giordano won both the races and he went on the first step of the podium. Simone Ricciardi was twice second. Stefano Scrivano was third, the same position he achieved in Castelletto di Branduzzo where he was protagonist of a wonderful race. Fourth position for Gianni Mannone.

SUPER POLE LIKE THE SUPERBIKE ONE

The initiative to arrange the starting grid as in the Superbike met with outstanding success. The public enjoyed it by focusing its interest on the riders. A The first best times were: Tiraferri (56.547), Corsi (56.844), Bartolini (57.097), Seminerio, Mannone, Vitali, Di Mauro, Gurrieri, Giordano, Ricciardi.
