KING PICA

POLINI ITALIAN CUP 4TH RACE VITERBO - INTERNATIIONAL CIRCUIT 06-09-2009

KING PICCA After a very hot summer the Polini Italian Cup was back on September 6th in Viterbo for the fourth of the five races Scheduled for 2009 championship.
The 70 Evolution scooter Trophy in Viterbo was full of unexpected events. Who waited for a duel between Daniele Picca and Adriano Sisti found instead a great Picca’s supremacy favored by two Sisti’s errors.

In his challenge Picca was able to keep strong his nerves while Sisti dashed his possibilities by falling both in the first and in the second race. In Race 1 his slip obliged the organizers to stop the race and to finish it in two parts. Picca had the possibility to ride alone towards his successes. To tell the truth he gained two second places: in fact the unbeatable Matteo Tiraferri, Polini’s official rider, came before him twice.
Special guest at the race in Viterbo, Tiraferri headed both the races, but he participated out of results.

Both the races gave to Picca the possibility to reach 182 points, granting him the title thanks to his 57-point lead over Sisti. Next race in Pomposa will be interesting for the allotment of the other steps of the podium. Even if the attention was concentrated on the two duelists at the head of the race, also other riders of the 70 Evolution scooter class showed them off. Daniele Secchini’s performance was the firmest one: with one fourth place and one third place he gained the third step of the podium. Bartolini‘s performance was good too, second in Race 1 and Aldo Perazzini second in Race 2.

LAST ROUND

Who expected to see in Viterbo, during the fourth race of the Polini Italian Cup, the award of the at least two of the three titles was disappointed. Devis Catellani, in the XP 4Str 110 over Trophy, despite he had a 36-point lead over Alessio Corneti, won both the Race, but then he was disqualified because of a technical irregularity. In Pomposa everything will be defined: in fact Alessio Corneti, second in Viterbo but first in the official results, is now at the head of the classification with 139 points against 125 points gained by Catellani. Good race disputed by Cristian Rossi too, second on the podium. Really involving the scrimmage between Napodano, Giuranna and Caloni for the third and fourth podium lasted from the first to the last meter of both the Races.

In the XP 4 Str 110 Under class Mattina Gollini’s success didn’t arrive despite he had 35-point lead over Riccardo Lodigiani. Gollini has now 10-point lead over his follower but he didn’t centered the full score that would have given him the possibility to be crowned Italian Champion. Both the race featured a very exciting duel between Gollino, Simone Mazzola and Nico Spallanzani. Gollino and Spallanzani fought for the second and the third position. Gollino, thanks to his better position, went on the second step of the podium. Once again in the XP4 Street 125 class Giovanni Ferdani was hampered by Roberto Bonomelli. Ferdani wasn’t able to resist to his attack. The duel saw twice Bonomelli’s victory who now has 10-point only from the first. Good race of Agostino Ammirata, third on the podium and able in some occasions to worry the duo at the head of the race.
