Second race of the Maxi Scooter Polini National Trophy, full of unexpected events, disputed May 22nd on the Vallelunga Track. The protagonists were Gianluca Rapicavoli and Marvin Mendogho but the winner was Ermanno Bastianini riding a Gilera Nexus 500 tuned up with Polini parts.
After all what fantasy is? To image a better reality compared to the one seen in the second race of the Maxi Scooter Polini National Trophy at Vallelunga.
In his career, after winning for two years consecutively the Italian title of the Maxi scooter Trophy in the Supersport class, Gianluca Rapicavoli will have never thought to spend a so hard Sunday at Vallelunga. During a week end full of emotions, Rapicavoli fell down at 180km/h during the test, without any injuries, when bending before the “Cimini”, destroying his bike. Mario La Greca managed to repair the vehicle in record time and Rapicavoli had the chance to start the race. In the Supersport Class Ermanno Bastianini was for the first time on the podium thank to his Gilera Nexus 500 tuned up with Polini parts. Bastianini was at the head of six riders in a space of one second.
“I have to say thanks to the technician Salvadori who prepared my Gilera Nexus at the best giving me the possibility to come before many Tmax scooters. The Polini kit set up exalted the performance of my scooter” – Said Bastianini at his arrival. Bastianini defended himself from Giovanni Gabrielli’s attack, second before Marvin Mendhogo, who registered the second best time while the fastest lap was registered by Diego Guerra in 1’59”590. In the Stock class Fabio Pintus was first again after the victory in Castelletto. Giordano Risi was second and Cristian Luperini was third. Next appointment at Binetto on July 3rd.
